FDL Fire Department Hopes To Keep The Wreath Red This Holiday Season

Once again this holiday season the Fond du Lac Fire Department hopes to keep their wreathes red. The wreaths at the fire stations feature red bulbs. If there’s a house fire one of the bulbs is replaced with a white bulb. The campaign began Thanksgiving Day and runs through New Year’s Day. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says with more people at your home for the holidays it’s important to be more vigilant about cooking and informing guests about exit routes from the home. Haase also says to be careful about your use of candles during the holidays. He recommends keeping them away from something flammable and out of the reach of children. According to the National Fire Protection Association the top three days for home candle fires were Christmas, New Year’s Day and Christmas Eve. Fond du Lac Fire Department photo.
