FDL Fire Dept Gets Two New Rescue Boats

The Fond du Lac Fire Department now has two new inflatable boats and a tandem trailer to haul them for rescues and other efforts. The department worked with Mercury Marine and Mr. Marine on the package, which includes a 17 foot 5 inch inflatable boat and 50 horsepower Mercury Outboard and a 13 foot 7 inch inflatable boat and 30 horsepower Mercury Outboard. Both boats are heavy duty. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says they will replace the 20-year-old inflatable boat they have that doesn’t have a motor. He says they can use them in a variety of ways including water and ice rescues, submerged boats and vehicle incidents, and putting out booms when hazardous materials are spilled. He says the boats are being prepped for use and fire department members will undergo “hand-on” training for their use.
