FDL Fire/Rescue Crews Battle House Fire Thursday

Crews were on the scene
Thursday morning for a fire that broke out at 156 Central Avenue in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was
called out at 11:52 a.m., and once on the scene, encountered heavy fire
conditions coming from the front of the 2-story wood frame single family
dwelling.  The fire was extinguished but not before it caused extensive
damage to the home.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and
there were no reported injuries. Alliant Energy was called to the scene to
secure gas and electric utilities.  The Red Cross was called to the scene
to assist the displaced occupants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire and police investigators have no reason to
believe the fire was suspicious at this time but will complete their
investigation before rendering a possible cause.

Off-duty crews were
called in to assist in
firefighting efforts and to provide coverage throughout
the city.  North Fond du
Lac Ambulance assisted in handling a medical
response in the city and the
Fond
du Lac
County

Sheriff’s Office assisted with crowd management and traffic.
FDLFR crews will be out canvassing the
neighborhood tomorrow handing out fire safety literature.
