FDL Man Could Spend 85 Years In Prison

A May 19th incident that sent a Fond du Lac man to the Dodge County Jail is now moving forward to trial.

Travis Bruemmer had been in jail, awaiting trial on felony charges, including Taking Hostages, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Strangulation.

Bruemmer was in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.  The charges stem from the May altercation where Bruemmer was being looked at by a staff member for a medical check. Bruemmer was originally placed in the Dodge County Jail after he was caught stealing gas and attempted to elude authorities while he was on his motorcycle.

While the female staff member proceeded with the medical inspection, Bruemmer put a choke hold on her, requiring several other officers to rush in to free her. A taser was used to free the staff member, and Bruemmer was restrained.

Bruemmer could spend 85 years or more in prison, and was already serving a 32-year sentence on Fleeing and Robbery charges.
