FDL Man Faces Multiple Charges from June 4th Standoff

The 27-year-old man police say barricaded himself and three
children inside a home on Johnson Street in Fond du Lac last week is facing multiple
criminal charges in Fond du Lac County Court. Takarie D. Cook of Fond du Lac faces
12 charges, including two felony counts of attempted false imprisonment, one count
each of false imprisonment, resisting/obstructing an officer, misdemeanor
intimidation of a victim, criminal damage to property, lewd and lascivious
behavior and five disorderly conduct charges.

Police were first called to the 100 block of East Johnson
Street around 4:13 AM on June 4th for a welfare check on a man,
later identified as Cook, who had reportedly been acting strangely by running
around naked in the street. Police learned there were three children in the
upstairs apartment with him and Cook had armed himself with a knife. One of the
children had escaped the apartment, and after several hours of negotiations, the
Fond du Lac Police SWAT team used an explosive breach to enter the home and rescue
two children left inside and take Cook into custody.

Cook is being held on a $15,000 cash bond. His next court
appearance is set for June 20th.
