FDL Man Gets Probation For Traffic Accidentally Leading To FDL Mans Death

A 38-year-old Fond du Lac man has been placed on probation for three years for a traffic accident that killed another Fond du Lac man. Richard Hartung was sentenced in Fond du Lac County court on an amended charge of reckless driving causing great bodily harm. In July of 2012 Hartung was driving his truck on Highway 175 when he tried to pass another vehicle. He had to take evasive action to avoid an oncoming road and went off the road and struck a tree. He was injured in the accident and his passenger, 41-year-old Shane Wincapaw, died at the scene. Hartung was originally charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. He pled no contest to the lesser charge last week.
