FDL Man Pleads In Heroin Overdose Death

The 40-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of supplying a Town of Springvale man with the heroin that led to the man’s death reached a plea deal. Jason Van Norman Tuesday afternoon pled no contest to 1st degree reckless homicide and manufacturing and delivering of heroin. Other drug-related charges were read into the record and dismissed. Fond du Lac County Judge Gary Sharpe ordered a pre-sentence investigation. A sentencing date will be scheduled. District Attorney Eric Toney says the court could sentence Van Norman to up to 32.5 years in prison and 20 years of extended supervision, but he’s agreed to recommend up to 15 years in prison with no cap on extended supervision, which could total up to 35 years. Van Norman and 27-year-old Joshua Mulder of Waupun are both suspected of supplying Devin Perry with the heroin that led to Perry’s overdose death in October of 2012. Mulder has a status conference in his case in September.
