FDL Memorial Day Ceremony

The community gathered along Main Street and at Veterans
Park in the City of Fond du Lac Monday for the city’s annual Memorial Day parade
and ceremony. The ceremony featured remarks from Fond du Lac City Manager Joe
Moore, a retired Army Colonel. Moore talked about the over 58-thousand people
who died while fighting in Vietnam, and how its important to pause in
reflection and appreciation for them and for everyone who has died for our
country. Moore said, “Perhaps, sometimes we forget, after all, that freedom is
not free. So today we pause in remembrance and acknowledgement, that we owe our
freedom to countless Americans who answered our nation’s call.” He added, “We
can never take for granted or allow anyone else to ignore the value and sacrifice
of those who never came home, of those who left families behind, of those who
rest in peace in graves around the world from Normandy to the Philippines.” Other
speakers included State Senator Dan Feyen, State Representative Jeremy
Thiesfeldt and City of Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb.
