FDL Native Attacked By Coworker At Kansas Military Medical Facility

A 26-year-old Fond du Lac native is recovering from burns after a coworker set her on fire at a Kansas military medical facility last week. Fifty-four-year-old Clifford Currie allegedly poured gasoline on Katie Ann Blanchard and set her on fire. He also tried to stab her with a straight edge razor. Coworkers wrestled him to the ground and put out the flames. But Katie suffered severe burns to her head, neck, back and arms. The attack happened at Munson Army Health Center in Fort Leavenworth on September 7th. She was Currie’s supervisor. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas has charged Currie with assault with intent to commit murder. Katie is married and the mother of three young boys. A GoFundMe page was set up to help with child care for Katie’s children and for other expenses. About $44,000 has been donated. The goal was to raise $10,000.
