FDL Noon Optimist Kicks Off Free Outdoor Movies Thursday 8/20

When it comes to summer, and non-profits, the word weird might be the best way to label this year. Joe Skelton, President of the FDL Noon Optimist Club, said it’s been an odd fundraising year for sure. “The only thing that has been certain is that there’s been a whole summer of uncertainty, that’s for sure.”

The FDL Noon Optimist focus their fundraising efforts all year on raising money to support the youth in the area, and with not many events actually taking place this year, the group has had to get creative in their fundraising efforts. And they came up with Fair Flicks, and outdoor movie theater located at the Fairgrounds in Fond du Lac, next to the Noon Optimist stand. “We have a giant permanent screen in place, so we can offer a high quality event for families. We intend to keep it going as long as the weather cooperates. We’ve invested a great deal of time and resources into our Noon Optimist stand, and we want to get more use out of it, while also continuing to stay focused on our goal of doing all we can for the youth of FDL County.”

Skelton reminds everyone this is a free event, with the event starting at 5:30 p.m., featuring all kinds of “fair food you’ve missed this summer” and then the movie “Despicable Me” getting underway at about 8:15 p.m.
