FDL PD “Adopt a Family” Program Helped to Make Spirits Bright This Holiday

The Fond du Lac Police Department spent some of their
time leading up to the holidays making the Christmas season brighter for the
less fortunate in our community.

The department’s “Adopt a Family” program has been going
on for over 15 years, in partnership with the Cops for Kids organization and businesses
like Holiday Automotive and Festival Foods, among others. Those groups work
together to provide Christmas presents to kids and holiday meals to families
around the city.

Police Officer Erik Foster says it’s very rewarding to do
something like this for the community. “Maybe they’ve fallen on hard times –
whatever their circumstances are – you get a lot of these families that are
just overly grateful to get a little extra help this year,” Foster said. “It’s
a good feeling for us, and we hope that it’s making somebody’s Christmas a
little bit better.”

The police department says around 75 families received
meals through the program this year, with another 250 children receiving gifts
this holiday season.
