FDL PD, School Administrators Investigating Threats Made on Social Media

In the wake of officer-involved shooting incidents at two
different schools in Wisconsin this week, officials at Fond du Lac High School
say they are investigating threats that were shared by students on social media
this week.

Principal Matt Steinbarth said in an email to parents Thursday
that administrators and the Fond du Lac Police Department have been made aware
of the threats, and that officers have followed up on the situations.

Steinbarth says that none of the threats have been deemed
credible, and is encouraging parents and guardians to speak with their kids to “let
them know that verbal and written statements are taken seriously.” He adds that
for students who make threats, “there may be dire and lasting repercussions.”

Students who see or hear a threat are asked to bring it to
the attention of administrators immediately, and should not continue sharing it
on social media.
