FDL Playground Fire Intentionally Set

Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary calls it an “unspeakable” act of vandalism. Someone set fire to playground equipment at Hamilton Park Sunday night. Firefighters arrived about 8 p.m. and O’Leary says the equipment was fully engulfed. Filler underneath the equipment made from crushed rubber tires fueled the flames. He says there’s no doubt the fire was intentionally set and it’s being investigated by the Police Department. He says it is city-owned property and likely insured, but will have an impact on city taxpayers, but more immediately the children who enjoy playing on the equipment. People with information can call the Police Department’s Crime Alert number 322-3740 or the non-emergency number at the Dispatch Center 906-5555. Picture courtesy of Fond du Lac Fire Department.
