FDL Police called to “Swatting” scene; arrest made

FDL Police have made an arrest in what is being referred to as a “swatting” incident from Friday night. At about 9:55pm last night, Police were called to the 100 block of 3rd Street, to follow up on a 9-1-1 call of a report of a male suspect inside the residence, holding a female suspect hostage. The call was then disconnected, and when a return call to that number went directly to voice mail, the decision was made to deploy officers to set up a perimeter around the residence. The FDL Police Department SWAT Team then responded to the scene, where contact was made with 4 people inside the location. Those four were taken into custody for questioning. Upon searching the residence, and finding no other victims or subjects, it was determined that the call was false, and was intended to bring a large police presence to the area, commonly referred to as “SWATTING”. A 27-year-old Fond du Lac has been arrested after Police traced down the 9-1-1 call to the 100 block of E. 1st St. He is currently being held in the FDL County Jail on numerous charges.
