FDL Police Detective Runs For Sheriff

Fond du Lac Police Detective Bill Ledger believes there is a bit of a divide between the City police department and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department. Ledger is running against incumbent Sheriff Mick Fink in the August primary. He says that divide was created during the last District Attorney’s race and the so-called “airplane OWI” conviction. It influenced the race and led to current DA Eric Toney defeating then incumbent DA Dan Kaminsky. Ledger was critical himself at the time of Toney’s experience. He says that’s in part to the large number of drug cases that are prosecuted through the office. He says Highways 41 and 151 are major corridors for drugs being trafficked from Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago and that’s something he’d like to see the Sheriff’s Department take more of a focus on. Ledger says if he’s elected Sheriff he hopes what ever divide there might be can be mended.
