FDL Police Memorial Ceremony

State Trooper Trevor Casper’s name has been added to the Police Memorial in Fond du Lac’s Hamilton Park. It’s listed right under Officer Craig Birkholz’s name and two other Fond du Lac Police Officers who gave their lives protecting the City over the years. During the annual Police Memorial ceremony Wednesday, Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb said in March of last year Trooper Casper saved the lives of others by sacrificing his own life in a fatal shootout with a bank robbery and homicide suspect. Lamb told Casper’s parents, “Your son stopped pure evil that day.” Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel said ceremonies like this also help the families of law enforcement officers who are coping with their loss. In a tribute to Trooper Casper, State Patrol Captain Tony Burrell (pictured) quoted from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. saying, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands during times of comfort and convenience, but where he stands during times at times of challenge and controversy.” Each of the four families was also presented with a single rose.
