FDL Police Warn About Smash And Grab Car Entries

Police in Fond du Lac are reminding residents not to leave valuables in plain sight in their vehicles after seven smash and grab car entries that occurred between Friday morning and Sunday afternoon. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says the entries occurred in the downtown area in the Portland Street ramp, one in the US Bank parking lot and three incidents occurred in the St. Agnes Hospital parking lot. He says all the crimes appear to be crimes of opportunity in which the suspect(s) is looking into vehicles parked in various lots looking for electronic items or purses that are in plain view and smashing a window out on the car to take those items. Klein says to make sure you remove valuables from your vehicle or lock them in your trunk or cover them with a blanket to lessen the likelihood of your vehicle being a target. He says police are looking to speak with a male subject described as being white, heavier build last seen wearing blue jeans and a Wisconsin Badgers jacket or sweat shirt who was seen looking into vehicles around the Hospital.
