FDL Public Library Director On Possible Expansion

Fond du Lac’s Public Library Director says the possible purchase of a building adjacent to the library will allow them to expand without building on. Jon Mark Bolthouse says moving the BookCellar into the building at 52 Sheboygan Street creates a golden domino effect. He says they could then use the space currently occupied by the BookCellar for the Idea Studio. He says they already have some money through grants and donations set aside to build up the Idea Studio and expand the Teen Center in the Children’s Room. He says they’ve already tested out the Idea Studio concept over the past year through their classes and programs ranging from 3D printing and small computers, to culinary literacy, to their crafternoons. The purchase and project would cost about $270,000, but a Community Development Block Grant would pay for $80,000 of it.
