FDL Public Library Summer Reading Program Underway

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular Summer Reading program is underway. It started at the beginning of the month and runs through August 12th. Community Information Director Terri Fleming says readers are encouraged to fill out cards tracking their reading, which they can redeem for rewards. There are circles on the cards representing a half hour of reading. Once the card is filled you turn it in. Fleming says kids who fill out all four cards by August 12th will get to pick out free a brand new book they can take home. There are prizes for teen and adult readers as well. She says kids who don’t read during the summer risk slipping into what is called the “summer slide,” meaning they lose some of what they learned over the summer. Readers can sign up for the program on the library’s website or stop in at the registration desk at the library.
