FDL Reads Program Thunder Dog Underway

The Fond du Lac Reads program for the book Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero is underway. Fond du Lac Public Library Community Information Coordinator Terri Fleming says the author Michael Hingson got out of one of the towers in New York thanks to his guide dog Roselle. She says Hingson tells his story, but also makes a point don’t underestimate what a person can accomplish even those with handicaps. She says the “Thunder Dog” in the title came from the fact that Roselle is deathly afraid of thunder, but managed to keep a calm demeanor on 911. That allowed Hingson and others to also keep calm and get out of the tower. She says they have a number of activities scheduled for Saturday, October 12th around the theme of the book and Hingson himself will be with them via Skype on October 29th at 6 p.m.
