FDL Runner Wants To Return To Boston Marathon

Ted Eischeid of Fond du Lac was one of the runners who experienced an emotional rollercoaster this past week after two bombs went off near the finish line at the Boston Marathon. Eischeid had finished the race about 50 minutes before the first bomb went off. He was several blocks away at the time but saw the two explosions. He says he’s surprised because the Boston Marathon is the culmination of many runners’ dreams not a symbol of American Democracy and power.  Eischeid was one of the Boston Marathon runners who spoke during a memorial ceremony for the bombing victims prior to the Oshkosh Half-Marathon Sunday. Part of what he said was a quote from Mr. Rogers about those who help during tragedies. He says it was his second Boston Marathon and seventh overall. It was supposed to be his last marathon. But Saturday he registered to run in the Fox Cities Marathon this September hoping to qualify to run in the Boston Marathon again. He wants to get back to pay tribute to the victims and the City of Boston. Fond du Lac School District Photo. To hear the interview click here.
