FDL Salvation Army Asking for Help Ahead of Warming Shelter’s Opening

The Salvation Army of Fond du Lac is asking for the public’s
help to meet some needs for its Warming Shelter that’s set to open next month. Leaders
at the Salvation Army have created a Facebook event called “Shower the Warming
Shelter” – where people can find out what supplies and staff are still needed
to make sure the shelter is staffed in time for its opening on November 1st.
Residents are asked to visit the Facebook event, and see how they can help by
volunteering, donating supplies or by taking on one of the paid positions
available.

The Warming Shelter is open 6 pm to 8 am nightly starting
November 1st through March 31st. The Salvation Army says
in a news release that 144 adults used its shelter in 2018 – with clients being
fed over 4,000 meals and with more than 1,000 loads of laundry kept clean. Anyone
willing to donate or volunteer to the warming shelter is asked to visit the
event on Facebook, and then call Social Services Director Ron Jacobson at 923-8220.
