FDL Salvation Army Client Wins Courage Award

The  Wisconsin Community Action Program Association presented Dorya Virgil (Center) with the Courage Award.  Dorya’s courage as a  Fond du Lac Salvation Army Pathway of Hope client captured staff admiration and they submitted the nomination, which read (in part): “Her courage and determination captured the community’s respect and belief in her; the strength she showed her children throughout her circumstances instilled life lessons they each will carry forever. She has been a positive influence not only to her children but an inspiration to the other single mothers who want to rise from the depths of poverty. Those mothers can now read Dorya’s story, about both the economic and emotional obstacles that she has overcome and now think, “Yes, I am capable of achieving stability just as that family has done.”  Amber Bose, FdL Salvation Army Pathway of Hope Coordinator (left) and Captain Telinda Wilson (right) attended the award presentation with Dorya.
