FDL Salvation Army Seeing Record Numbers For Food Programs

For the first time every the Fond du Lac Salvation Army has had to put a cap on the number of lunches it prepares for their Brown Bag Lunch program. Social Services Director Ron Jacobson says last week for the first time they reached preparing more than 800 lunches for a single day. He says the number they are serving has skyrocketed. He says Thursday of last week they made 802 lunches. He says that has put a dent in their inventory. Jacobson says Festival Foods came to the rescue recently donating 1,400 pounds of food for the Brown Bag program. He says when they have a need the community usually responds. Salvation Army officials also say they served 112 families at their food pantry on Wednesday, which surpasses the record of 93 set years ago.
