FDL School Board Approves Preliminary Budget

The Fond du Lac School Board approved a preliminary budget for the new school year last night. According to preliminary estimates the tax rate for the school district will decrease by 4.74 percent. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says it’s a good budget. He says it will allow them to do what they do well, enhance some programs and also to start their STEM High School component. The Board also heard reports on an emergency preparedness manual, the seclusion and restraint report, and a school culture and climate report. According to the climate report the total number of bullying incidents for the district increased from 234 in 2014-15 to 275 in 2015-16. Sebert expects that their continued philosophy of positive, behavior, intervention, and support will help reduce those incidents. The board also got a legislative update from State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt.
