FDL School Board Approves Preliminary Budget

The Fond du Lac School Board Monday afternoon approved a preliminary budget for the new school year. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says the budget won’t be finalized until October when they have a couple of missing pieces in place the final enrollment count for the fall and the state’s property values. He says they are hoping for better numbers on enrollment and the property values, which could both lower the millage rate. He says the mill rate of $10.02 per thousand dollars of value on a property is about 45 cents more than the past year, but still lower than a couple of years ago. He says the rate is less than 2013, but more than last year when the rate actually dropped. A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held at the school board’s September 14th meeting.
