FDL School Board Honors Hayes for 33 Years of Service

The Fond du Lac School Board bid farewell to one of its
longtime members on Monday night. Elizabeth Hayes has served on the board since
1986 and opted last fall not to seek another term. Hayes was honored with a
farewell reception prior to the Board of Education meeting last night and was recognized
by the board for her 33 years of service during the meeting. “She’s been nothing
but a constant breath of fresh air, and always supportive,” Superintendent Jim
Sebert said. “She really understood the district and understood what the role
of the district is, not only in terms of educating kids, but also being cognizant
of what the community is saying, being watchful of spending and being watchful
of the tax rate. She just brought a complete package for 33 years to the Fond
du Lac School District,” Sebert said. Mark Jurgella and Peggy Breister were
re-elected to the board in last week’s election. They, along with newcomer Nick
Teifke will take the Oath of Office before the next board meeting on April 22nd.
