FDL School Board Votes Against Investing $1.5 Million toward New Stadium

The Fond du Lac School Board voted against a resolution Monday
authorizing financial support for the construction of a new outdoor stadium at
Fond du Lac High School.

The board voted 4-3 against spending $1.5 million of the district’s
general fund balance that would have been used to help construct the new
stadium with an artificial turf surface.

Supporters of the project argued that commitment from the
board would have helped support private fundraising for the project, and would
have allowed the stadium project to be funded, provided all private funding was
raised.

A second project, a multi-use indoor facility, had also
been presented to the board, but that proposal had been tabled to focus first
on the stadium project.
