FDL School District Gives Expelled Students Opportunity To Keep Learning

Efforts are made to keep teaching students expelled from the Fond du Lac School District. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says they employ a tutor who sees students two to three times a week to keep them educated while they are expelled. He says students keep getting their work through their school or through the district’s online learning and come in to see the tutor two or three times a week for support and testing. He says they also look to give expelled students opportunities for early reentry to release them from their expulsion. He says that could include some type of counseling, assessment or not having any future behavior problems during the term of expulsion. During the past academic year 12 students were expelled from the district. Sebert says most of them were high school age students. He says this year some of the expulsions had to do with threats students made towards schools.
