FDL School District Honors Representative Thiesfeldt’s Open Records Request

State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says the Fond du Lac School District did honor his open records request regarding the school board’s position on the proposed expansion of the school choice voucher program. He says he got a packet of information from District Superintendent Jim Sebert last Friday. Thiesfeldt made the request after a May 14th meeting of the school board.  The day before that meeting an ad in a Sunday paper stated the board’s position opposing the expansion of the program. Thiesfeldt wanted to see records pertaining to when the board authorized the ad because they had yet to take an official vote on their position. He says the public hadn’t even been allowed to weigh-in yet at a school board meeting on how they felt about the proposed expansion. Thiesfeldt says he hopes the board will follow the proper procedures the next time they tackle a controversial subject. The Fond du Lac School Board last week unanimously approved a resolution opposing the expansion of the school choice voucher program.
