The Fond
du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is once again urging drivers to move over and
slow down for law enforcement, especially in winter weather conditions after a sheriff’s
squad car was involved in a crash early Wednesday morning. Officials say a
deputy was assisting with a crash around 5:15 in the morning on southbound Interstate
41 near Johnson Street when someone driving too fast for conditions lost
control and hit the squad car. A post on the department’s Facebook Page says
that “there was plenty of visibility for drivers to see the emergency lights,
plenty of room on the interstate to safely pass the scene and plenty of time to
slow down,” yet the crash still happened. There were no injuries as a result of
the crash

It was a
busy Wednesday morning for the Sheriff’s Office – which responded to a total of
18 accidents and 17 runoffs between Midnight until 2 pm Wednesday. Four
accidents with injuries were reported, in addition to one occupied disabled
vehicle reported.
