FDL Soroptimist Chapter Donates Books

The Soroptimist International of Fond du Lac service group held a club book drive in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Soroptimist International in the United States. A goal to collect 100 hundred books was set, which would then be donated to enhance school libraries and replenish supplies of books that were given away during the coronavirus closure.

The books featured female protagonists and authors, since the mission of the Soroptimists locally, regionally, and internationally is to work to empower women and girls. To help dovetail with other initiatives, diversity of characters and authors was also a goal.

In the end, the club collected over 200 books. Fond du Lac School District Coordinator of Equity Laurice Snyder and Director of Teaching and Learning Andrea Reichenberger accepted the donation from Soroptimist President Linda Uselmann. The books will be incorporated into school curriculum, libraries, and book distribution programs.
