FDL Standoff Ends Peacefully

An armed domestic dispute in the 200 block of 17th Street in Fond du Lac ended peacefully this morning when a 37-year-old Fond du Lac man surrendered to the police SWAT team. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says a 28-year-old Fond du Lac woman met with police at the Walgreen’s Store at Johnson and Main and said she’d gotten into an argument with her husband that turned dangerous. He pulled a handgun and held it to her head, keeping her there for a period of time. She was eventually able to leave the residence, but had to leave two young children behind at their home. Klein says when they found that out they called in their SWAT team. The SWAT team negotiated with the man and eventually got him to surrender. Klein says the children were not harmed. He says ensuring the safety of the children was their first priority. The man is facing a number of felony charges.
