FDL Symphonic Band To Perform July 4th

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dale Shipe, will present its traditional Americana Concert at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac on Monday, the 4th of July, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Vocalist Eva Thelen-Dunphy will be featured singing Let Freedom Ring and the Armed Forces Salute. The trumpet section will take the lead on Bugle Call Rag, and more early American jazz will be heard with Beale Street Blues. Popular American music from many eras includes American Folk Song Rhapsody No. 1 and Best of Stevie Wonder.

Patriotic selections include Amber Waves of Grain, At Dawn They Slept, and 24 Notes. Sousa marches: Washington Post, King Cotton, and Stars and Stripes Forever will round out the program.

            The Band’s performance will be followed by fireworks on the lakefront at 9:30 p.m.. The Symphonic Band’s summer concerts in Fond du Lac are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac. Next on the summer schedule is the Mayville Steel Drum All-Stars at Buttermilk Creek Park on July 6, Symphonic Band’s annual Family Night concert at Buttermilk Creek Park on July 13 and a concert at Firemen’s Park in Campbellsport on July 14.
