FDL Teen Claims Talent Prize In National Teen Pageant

ORLANDO, FLA–The reigning Miss Wisconsin’s Outstanding
Teen 2016, Kylene Elizabeth Spanbauer, who has been in
Orlando, Fla. the past week to compete in the 2016 Miss
America’s Outstanding Teen title became an early award
winner.
Spanbauer, 17, of Fond du Lac, won the Wednesday night
preliminary talent award and a $500.00 scholarship after
presenting a baton and twirl routine to “Explosive” by Bond,
an Australian/British string quartet, which is the same talent
number that she used to win the state teen title. Additionally,
Catherine White of Clayton, N.C. won the evening gown prize
at the conclusion of the second round of preliminary competitions.
On Tuesday, Kelsey Leighannah Hollis of Warner Robins, GA
won talent with a vocal selection while Hannah Miller of Elkhorn,
Nebr. won the evening gown award.
Spanbauer, a senior at Winnebago Lutheran Academy, was
named Miss Fond du Lac’s Outstanding Teen on March 5 and
advanced to the state competition on June 24 in Oshkosh where
she became the first Fond du Lac teenager to win the Miss
Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen title.
Upon her state victory, Spanbauer’s runner-up Amber Wells,
16, immediately assumed the Miss Fond du Lac’s Outstanding
Teen title and she will crown her successor at the conclusion
of the 2017 pageant at Goodrich Little Theater on March 11,
2017.
The 12th annual Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant
will be held Saturday night at the Orange County Convention
Center in Orlando, Fla where outgoing 2015 teen titleholder
Alexandra Nault,18, of Gilford, N.H. will crown her successor.
Should Spanbauer win the national title, her state first runner-up
Zeli Frantz of Racine, a classical ballet dancer, will assume the
state teen title. Only one Wisconsin teen has won the national
teen pageant title—Jeanette Helen Morelan of Mount Pleasant,
located in Racine County, who won the 2010 Miss America’s
Outstanding Teen crown in August of 2009.
