FDL Woman Wins Grief Relief Backyard Makeover

Lynn Schneider of Fond du Lac, was drawn as the grand prize winner of Agnesian HealthCare’s Grief Relief: Rebuilding Families “One Backyard at a Time” fund-raiser through the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation.

Schneider’s grand prize, valued at $4,999 and donated by Stuart’s Landscaping & Garden Center, includes a custom landscape construction (softscape) package.

Thanks to the fund-raiser, Grief Relief will receive nearly $16,000. About 180 guests attended the April 16 fund-raiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

“We are so grateful to have supporters that are so passionate about ensuring that quality bereavement services are available to individuals and families when they are needed most,” says Holly Brenner, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation president.  “Proceeds will help Grief Relief expand and enhance its offerings in ways that fit the specific needs of those they serve.”

      Agnesian HealthCare’s Grief Relief offers free facilitated peer support groups for children, teens, young adults and their families who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives.

      “The Grief Relief program has grown significantly since its inception,” says Donna Altepeter, LCSW, bereavement coordinator with the Agnesian Bereavement Center & Grief Relief. “The community now has a better understanding of the importance that grief support can play for children and their family members who have had a significant death in their lives. In a safe positive supportive environment, children and families can work though their grief surrounded by their peers.”

            Other prize winners include: second prize, Kathy Mathos, Fond du Lac, 14 kt. white gold diamond pendant, donated by The Goldsmith, valued at $1,895; third prize, Barb Faber, Fond du Lac, Disney trip for twoDisney Park Hopper passes, donated by Walt Disney World Florida, valued at $536, condo stay, donated by Blue Green Vacations, valued at $600, Southwest Airlines $500 voucher; fourth prize, Sister Janet Ahler, Fond du Lac, adirondack folding chairs, donated by Zillges, valued at $880; fifth prize, Alice Pickart, Fond du Lac, Amish rocker recliner, donated by Murray Furniture, valued at $780.
