Fewer Fatal Accidents In FDL County In 2013

Fond du Lac County had fewer fatal traffic accidents in 2013. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says we had nine, which is less than half of the 22 the County saw in 2012. He says four fatal accidents occurred in November and December of last year. He says fewer accidents had alcohol use and failure to wear seat belts as contributing factors. Only three weren’t wearing seatbelts and only one was alcohol-related. Olig says grants will help pay for some enforcement efforts, which do have an impact on highway safety. He says one grant is for alcohol enforcement.  He says another, a speed-related grant, will focus on Highway 23 east and Highway 26.
