Feyen And Thiesfeldt Ask For Funding To Complete County Hwy K Bridge On Hwy 23

State Senator Dan Feyen and State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt recently wrote a letter to the Governor asking that a portion of surplus funding be used to complete the County Highway K Bridge and supporting structures on Highway 23. They would like to see the project done now rather than wait for it at the end of the Highway 23 expansion project from Fond du Lac to Plymouth. Senator Feyen says $127 million is left over from the last state budget that the Governor plans to use for highway projects and this could be one of them. The improvements would be from County Highway K to Highway 151. That portion wasn’t at issue in a lawsuit that held up federal funding for the Highway 23 project and isn’t affected by a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement being prepared for the project. Feyen says they are asking for $15 million to get this portion of the project done. The two state legislators point out in their letter that the Highway K portion of State Highway 23 has the highest crash incident level on the entire highway and the crash level on that 19-mile stretch of Highway 23 continues to increase greater than the state average.
