Fill The Boot Benefits MDA

The KFIZ and 107.1 The Bull parking lot hosted Fond du Lac Firefighters Local 400’s Fill the Boot effort this past Friday. The money raised from the three collections firefighters hold during the month of August benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It assists in paying for a summer camp for kids with muscular diseases like Devon who has attended the camp each of the past 8 years. He says it gives him a chance to hang out with friends and it is also a week away from his parents. Murphy Maes of the MDA says with the money raised they can also invest in research. She says in the next five years they will see more drugs to treat muscle diseases than have been developed over the past 50 years combined. She says four drugs have been approved by the FDA over the past nine months for different types of muscle diseases. The final Fill the Boot effort will be this Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Division and Park.
