Fill The Helmet Effort In FDL Successful

Three months after Fond du Lac firefighters teamed
up with the Green Bay Packers and Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin on the
Fill-the-Helmet campaign the effort will be expanded to the entire state. Fond
du Lac Fire Lieutenant Todd Shippee says the effort to provide child ID kits for
all chidlren has found a backer that will underwrite the entire cost for
children in Fond du Lac County. That backer will be announced during a press
conference next Wednesday. Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac County was selected as
the first community for the effort and as such is the first in the nation to
cover every single child.
Shippee says this Sunday they
will take the campaign to Lambeau Field where Packer fans will be asked to
Fill-the-Helmet. He says not every fire department is full time and can mount
such a campaign.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was
outraged when he heard Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and the Packers would be the first
in the child ID kit effort. Shippee says there’s a challenge between Packer and
Cowboy fans and the fan base that raises the most money per capita for the
campaign will receive a trophy at Lambeau Field when the Packers host the
Cowboys in November. Shippee says no other state has a better NFL fan base and
no other state cares as much for its children. He’s confident fans will support
the effort and snatch the trophy away from Cowboy fans on Lambeau Field.
Each child ID kit contains a
DNA swab and inkless fingerprint kit. It’s the only kit approved of by the
FBI.
