Find A Bomb Call Law Enforcement

An official with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department says it’s not that unusual for people to find what appear to be surplus war explosives. Last week a Fond du Lac resident brought in a World War II era bazooka training rocket (pictured) to the Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cameron McGee says with the passing of older military veterans their family members sometimes find such items when they are cleaning out their homes. He says he’s dealt with similar discoveries in the past. He says he usually takes a picture of it and forwards it to the Milwaukee Bomb Squad so they know what they are dealing with when they come here to take care of it. He says a few years ago some old dynamite was found in the Mt. Calvary area. He says if you discover something like that call police if you live in the City or the Sheriff’s Department, but don’t handle it yourself.
