Fire Causes Extensive Damage To FDL Home

A Thursday afternoon fire causes heavy damage to a Fond du Lac home. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was called out just after 4:00 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from the roof of a 2-story home on Sunset Circle, on the city’s southwest side. When crews arrived, they found fire coming from the attic as well as a second floor room. The fire was extinguished but not before causing extensive damage to the attic and second story. There was also minor damage to the first floor and basement levels. 

All members of the home were able to get out safely, with one family member receiving treatment on site, then transported to St. Agnes Hospital.  The American Red Cross was on the scene to assist the family. FDL PD also assisted at the scene, along with Alliant Energy securing gas and electric utilities. The home is uninhabitable, and the cause remains under investigation.
