Fire Causes Minor Damage to Home in the Town of Taycheedah

Several area fire departments responded to a house fire in the Town of Taycheedah Sunday night. A
caller to the County Dispatch Center reported seeing smoke coming from the
garage of a home at W3858 Silica Road around 11:33 pm. The caller also reported
a woman could be heard calling for help from inside the home. Fire crews were
able to quickly get the woman out of the home and determined nobody else was
inside. A small fire was located and put out. The cause was determined to be
careless handling of smoking materials which started flammable items on the
basement floor on fire. The home sustained minor smoke damage. The 47-year-old
woman was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and released. Town of
Calumet Fire and First Responders, Mount Calvary Fire and EMS, Town of Fond du
Lac Fire Department, City of Fond du Lac EMS, and Fire Departments from
Lamartine and Oakfield all assisted at the scene.
