Fire Damages FDL Home

A house fire Saturday morning in Fond du Lac caused extensive damage to the first floor of a home.

Crews were called out Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:49am, for reports of a house fire at 92 N. Seymour Street.

The occupants of the home were conducting yard work when they noticed smoke coming from the roof of their 2-story home. One occupant entered the residence to investigate and immediately noticed smoke inside a second floor level attic space.

Upon arrival, FDL Fire/Rescue crews found a significant amount of smoke exiting from the peak of the roof and immediately entered the home to begin fire extinguishment.

The fire was contained to a section of exterior wall and the ceiling soffit box within the kitchen area located on the first floor level and an area where the fire started to extend into a small void space directly above the kitchen.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire from further extending into the second floor level and home attic space.

There were no injuries were reported but the fire caused extensive damage within the kitchen area and smoke created moderate damage throughout the home. All smoke detectors within the home were in proper working condition and were activated.

Fire investigators determined that the fire originated in the area of an electric outlet box located on the exterior wall of the kitchen area.

FDLPD assisted with traffic and scene control. Alliant Energy assisted with securing gas and electric utility services to the home. The American Red Cross was called to assist with the displacement of the occupants from their home.
