Fire Damages NFDL Apartment

Fire damaged a North Fond du Lac apartment building and displaced some families Wednesday night. Acting Fire Chief Bruce Pluim says the fire at 416 Saratoga Avenue was called in shortly before 6 p.m. He says it was restricted to one unit of a four-unit apartment building. He says firefighters did a good job of knocking it down. He says it started in the kitchen, but the cause is still being determined. He says the tenant of that apartment was displaced and other families in the building. He says the apartment will have to be fixed before that tenant can move back in, but families in the three other apartments were only displaced for the night. There were no injuries. The Van Dyne Fire Department provided mutual aid. Pluim says the building had working smoke detectors.
