Fire Destroys Garage and Home, Damages Nearby House

A late Sunday evening fire destroyed a garage, while causing damage to additional structures nearby. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue crews were called out at 9:20 p.m. Sunday evening to 52 W. Bank St., for a  reported detached garage fire with explosion.

Upon arrival crews found a garage fully engulfed in flames, including a vehicle. The homeowner advised crews that a large propane tank inside the garage may have been the source of the explosion. The fire spread to the nearby single family structure while another detached garage and house sustained heat damage. It took crews almost an hour to bring the blaze under control, but there were no injuries reported.

Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure utilities on the home, which has been deemed uninhabitable. Police and Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. FDLPD also assisted with scene control.
