Fire Destroys Garage, Spreads To Neighboring Structures

Crews battled a fast-spreading garage fire in Fond du Lac Tuesday evening.

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue were notified just before 7:30 p.m. of a detached garage fire in the 400 block of E. Merrill Ave.

Once on the scene, crews found the entire detached garage fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel were able to knock down the fire, but not before the fire spread to a number of nearby structures.  The home and a neighboring garage experienced minor fire damage, while two vehicles parked in front of the garage were destroyed.

It took crews roughly 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. A nearby garage suffered minor damage, while no injuries were reported. Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure the damaged electric meter.

Fire investigators will be working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. FDL Police Department assisted with scene and traffic control.
