Fire Destroys Home in North Fond du Lac Monday Night

A home in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue in North
Fond du Lac was destroyed by fire Monday night. Firefighters from the North
Fond du Lac Fire Department, along with City of Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue and
the Van Dyne Fire Department responded to the scene just after 8:30 pm. Firefighters
arriving on scene were unable to make entry to the home at first, and had to
begin fighting the fire from outside the home. Crews were then able to make
entry and extinguish the rest of the fire. A call for additional aid was made
just before 9:15 pm to help with salvage and overhaul to ensure the fire was
put out. The fire was deemed under control around 9:41 pm.

Four people who live at the address were not home at the
time of the fire, and multiple animals – including two dogs died in the fire. Also
assisting at the scene were the North Fond du Lac Police Department, RIT
District 1, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department and Alliant Energy. The
North Fond du Lac Fire Department is continuing their investigation into the
cause of the fire.
