Fire Destroys Washington County Barn

Over 90 animals perished in a barn fire in Washington County’s Town of West Bend late Wednesday night. Sheriff’s officials say nine fire departments battled the blaze on the Meadow Brook Orchard property on Mile View Road. A passerby awoke the property owner and called 911. The owner went out to the barn and began evacuating animals, but the fire quickly got out of control. The barn was totally engulfed when fire departments began arriving. No one was injured during the fire. In addition to the loss of the barn and animals the farms Halloween props and decorations were stored in it. Among the animals that perished were rabbits, chickens, ducks, emu, and four bull calves.
