Fire Displaces Families In FDL Apartment Complex

Fire displaced some families in the River’s Edge Apartments at 474 West Scott Street Monday afternoon. Fond du Lac Fire Division Chief Troy Haase says they got a call at 1:50 p.m. about a fire in the back apartments of the 16 unit complex. “There was a fire that involved one apartment. Smoke of course traveled throughout that section of the building, so we had to evacuate one section of the building.” Haase said. “There was heavy fire damage in one apartment, moderate smoke damage in a few others.” There was no damage to the eight units in the front section of the building. Haase says a woman was taken to the hospital.“There was one person transported for smoke inhalation, she was rescued out of the building.” Fond du Lac firefighters got mutual aid from other fire departments including North Fond du Lac, Mt. Calvary, Ripon and the Town of Fond du Lac. The Red Cross is helping those displaced by the fire. (Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue photos)
